As there is no need for an outside access in this, these hoods can be installed in any type of kitchen and as they do not require any modifications in the wall above the hobs, they are easier to install. Recirculation hoods have certain drawbacks as the charcoal filter becomes ineffective over time and needs to be replaced regularly. This type of hood can only filter smoke particles
and is unable to remove steam from the kitchen.
There are many different types of hood styles to choose from and the choice mainly depends upon the size of cooker and the budget. Based on the fitting type in the kitchen, there are wall mounted (chimneys, integrated), island and built-in (canopy) cooker hoods.

Rate of Extraction: The extraction rate depends on the size of the kitchen and is measured in cubic meters per hour. The extraction rate is higher in hoods with better motor and they are less noise generating (as more work can be done at a lower setting). There are several options in choosing the filter – metal, fleece material, charcoal, or paper. The metal filters can be removed and washed at periodic intervals. Fleece, paper and charcoal filters need to be replaced every few months. Filters need to be easily accessible so that they can be cleaned or replaced easily. Controls: For ease while working in the kitchen, hoods with controls on the front rather than anywhere else should be preferred.
Power Settings: The cooker hoods generally come with variable two to three speed settings. Size: The size of the cooker hood should be at least same width as the cooking hob.
